Swimmers in the Desert is an attempt to comprehend history in a clear, personal approach on the water, across the desert and in the air. The past is examined from hidden vantage points of the present, in a manner both sensuous and analytical.

The desert is like an infinitely large projection screen which stores and preserves a great many things: both false leads and ancient truths and secrets. This film is about the dangers of failure in a world of ceaseless motion. The diverging points of view of father and son make Swimmers in the Desert a poetic manifesto on the power of documentary film.
